Sensory Play : Edible Play @ 10 months old

Baby Puff

To contain the mess, I put baby J in a fordable basket.
Pour in a bottle of baby puff right in front of him.
I have imagined earlier he would definitely love this activity.
I was really fascinated to look at his little fingers slowly
and gently reaching the puffs.

Firstly he touches the puff, must be thinking what are all these!
Then slowly he picked one puff and put it in his mouth.

As this age, his just started to learn pincer grip.
At times he may not be able to hold them properly.
I love the way he put the puff into his mouth.
Sometimes he may just missed feeding himself and started picking again.

After a short while, he started to grab a handful of puff
and pushed them into his tiny mouth.
I think he was hungry! >.<

What else can be better than having a
buffet puff party for my little boy.
He ate and played for good 10 minutes before trying
to climb out of the basket.

Ice Tray
Inspired by mummy Jean

Let's learn cold, wet, water

Preparation was super easy

Little boy did not know what he was getting into.
Dived straight into the ice container

Feel the container in his mouth ... biting again

Mummy mumbled non-stop
Ice, cold, wet, szzzz  szzzz....

Trying to catch the slippery ice

Finally got one and put into his mouth
BINGO

This was what i got

Sensory Play : From the kitchen @ 10 months old

I started tailing homeschool blogs few months ago.
It all started with the idea of right brain.
I need to acknowledge I was overwhelmed
with too much information.
The only way to really understand and decide what I want to do,
I can only continue to read and read and read.
I will share more along the way.

NOW, I got the ideas of intentional play
thru mummies blog & pinterest.
Since my boy was at his curious & active stage,
I introduced sensory play.

I kept all his usual toys.
Put up this basket, filled it with kitchen tools.
Just so simple!

Baby J was really excited.
He started exploring the basket.
Touch and feel them individually.

For him, everything was tasty.
He tasted a few of them by licking, biting…
I just need to make sure everything is clean

He also loves to bang.
I recycled the cereal can and it was perfect for him.
I put a smaller item in it and he shake nonstop.

Same goes to the recycled milk storage bottle.
I sealed it with some mung beans in it.
He was making music with shaker!

He also picked things that he knew can produce
loud sound when he threw it on the floor.
Mummy tried to introduce some words along
the play : hard , soft, colors, name of the object etc.

I’m not expecting him to understand
Just play
We kept this basket for 2 weeks play

This basket was played under close supervision.
I am not comfortable to leave him alone as certain items
could be dangerous for a little baby.

Baby J : 10 months old

Haaiiihhh... been trying to catch up all these belated pages.
I can only make it very simple and compact.
Here's Baby J's progress when he was 10 months old.

Let's start with his appetite.
My moments feeding this boy different
types of food only restricted to weekends and public holiday.
Breastfeeding was counted as milk shake.
Weekdays late evening feedings were counted as snack.

I have been trying to incorporate some greens into his porridge.
Finally a hit when i discovered the ways of preparing them.
He can consumes a lot of greens, no choking.
Yea... he chokes when the texture is too rough.

Chinese Spinach (Bayam)
Sweet Pea
Beans
Broccoli & Cauliflower
Beetroots

Very simple and my little boy loved it!

Bayam Porridge (Chinese Spinach)

Tried mango oats as breakfast.
Acceptable but i did not see his ummph face

Unfortunate Events
Oh…  this boy had his first bump!
Applied ice immediately.
No bungalow.. phewww…

He was feeding mosquitoes for a period of time.
Could be the weather.
Most severe was 4 stings on his right side of his head,
few on his hands, fingers, legs.
I thought it was HFMD as it was the season too.
I quarantined him for 3-4 days before sending back to baby sitter.
Well, i have to take emergency leave. :(

Apart from the unfortunate events, he was still a happy, playful boy.

This is the smile I get everyday when I fetched him home.

Baby J can blow. Daddy cannot tahan geli…

Baby J on his ice-cream truck.
He flipped and checked this truck for good 10 min each play.

Introduced a sensory basket to him

Another toy basket

 All time favorite donkey riding

Best activity for the month, peeling tapes from the foam.
We were tired of assembling the mat  over and over because
Baby J kept pulling them apart.
So i taped it, resulted he was busy peeling the tape
instead of dismantling the mat.
Well, it was part of motor skill too right >_<

Introduced straw cup to Baby J too.
It took him 2 days to learn how to suck from this cup.
I was introduced to this Combi Stage 4 cup from my bestie
who had trial & errors on different types of straw cups for baby.
True enough, it was a good investment.
Apart from not willing to hold his own milk bottle, he did the same
to his new straw cup too.  = . =

Baby, mummy never like daddy bribe you with ipad.
you are just too young for this gadget.
can you be patient, until you are much older??

Baby J has his own private VIP seat.
He settled well sitting by himself while we enjoyed most of our dinners.
This is a highly recommended portable feeding chair
from Fisher Price.
We never had problem on disrupted dinners.
Little boy will have his baby food and slight entertainment
from his entertainers (kong2, ma2, check2, me & hub)
Daddy aka the kuli or me will either carry the portable chair
or baby J & luggage bag.

That was all about me when i was 10th months old!

Holiday : Penang Hill

This was our first mini holiday to Penang Hill during labour day.
Baby J just turned 8 months old.
As usual, each outing needs to be planned properly.
I need to make sure my 'handbag' needs to be filled with all his necessity
within the scheduled hours.

Happy Wednesday morning!
Can see his sprouted gigi?

On the way to Penang Hill. The journey was just about 15 min  :D
Local ma...

We stopped for breakfast in one of the coffee shop next
to the Penang Hill big roudabout.
It was election period. We were happy to see how they campaigned.
Can you spot the Ubah hat? One of the candidate with his team
were socializing with the rakyat.
Opposition won the last election in Penang and this year
they are working hard to maintain the government.
Personally, i have seen improvement over the last 4 years
under the opposition gov. LGE has done a great job!

Penang Hill was under major renovation.
I was impressed with their new outlook.

We bought our tickets. The queue was long, mostly Malaysian.
An adult ticket price will cost RM 30 per pax.
But if you are holding a MyCard (Malaysian Citizen),
ticket will only cost RM 8.
2 tickets cost RM 16 and it was FOC for Baby J

The queue to the train platform were long too.
However the waiting time was short.
Baby J was curious to see so many people and
makcik2 were trying to make friends with him.

I realized the platform was not so stroller friendly.
They do not even have a special lane for baby or people with special needs.
But they have a private entrance for citizens who were living up the hill.
This can be an area to improve.

The train was too packed. I have to carry Baby J.
I felt he can suffocate sitting in the stroller.
We have to carry the stroller into the train as quick as possible
as you do not want to be pushed. People were rushing in to secure a lift.
The step could be dangerous if we were not careful.

Look at the crowd behind us.

We were at the front cabin.
Please ignore my giant arm. i know .. i know.. :(
The journey took 7 minutes??
(oh dear, i can hardly recall now, it was just like 4.5 months ago??)
I can only recall it was fast. They have upgraded the train service.

We reached the top about 10 am ??

Nice weather. View of Penang island.

Penang hill looked different compared to my last visit, 10 years ago.
We walked around this area.

This is the new hawker centre "The Cliff Cafe" and the only one up there.
They have all the local food. We did not order anything since
we just had our breakfast. Just bought 2 bottled water.
It was Baby J's feeding time. I warmed up my EBM quickly
and fed him. We took our time since there was no rush at all.

Warm??

There was on open space. Quite clean & spacious.

oh, i forgot to mentioned there was an Owl Museum beside The Cliff Cafe.
We did not visit. Maybe next trip when Baby J is older.

We walked around and decided to rent a cart to
venture into the inner side of Penang Hill.
I cannot recall how much we paid for the golf cart.
The chinese uncle driver was very friendly and he
was introducing some of the key spots
when we passed by.

Monkey Cup Garden
Some tycoon's bungalow
Tree top bridge (broken & no budget for reconstruction)

I forgot what the uncle said about this old treasure.. ops..
Just strike a pose laa..

Baby J enjoying the ride
Weather was good

This is the only hotel up on the hill

After spending good 2 hours, the weather got cloudy.
Time to leave before the rain starts.

Queuing for the train

My baby was just too tired.
It started drizzling when we reached the hillside.

It was just a short trip but i called it a holiday. :)
We enjoyed ourselves.
Life is more meaningful with this little munchkin.
